barely concealed malice

Livejournal is telling me it has been too long since I did an update. Lots has been going on. I got fired from hid global tech support and then hired on to hid global training. I got a nice blackberry out of the deal and the ability to work from home. I got a Nintendo wii and the wii fit! I picked up Mario kart wii too, and was a little disappointed.

My new job has me busy as hell. With 4th edition d&d out all I want to do is play but I haven't found time yet. My 3.5 play-by-email campaign has fallen to shambles, but I hope to pick that up again soon.

I am doing my best to eat better now, which is hard. I think that pretty much wraps up my "what is new" post. Twitter is being a bitch, so I may be back to the ol' journal soon.

twitter.  today anyway.  every time i try to tweet (yes...they call it tweeting) it tells me that too many people are tweeting right now and to try again later.  fuck you TWITTER...if that is your real name.  the whole appeal of twitter is that you can just throw down random thoughts, as you have them, and then feel all popular when like 13 people read your thoughts.  i don't want to have to write my fucking thoughts down on a post-it note and then fucking add them to twitter later....that's fucking bullshit dammit.

anyway, what i was going to tweet before twitter decided to be a douchebag was that post-it note comics will be recommencing somewhere around mid june.  fuck...what's so hard about that.

I got back from Minnesota on Friday.  Technically I suppose it was Saturday, we landed at about 2:30 in the AM.  The trip was decent, a little bit of training, a good deal of networking, and a whole fuck ton of drinking.  Met some great people, and some not so great people, ate too much, drank too much, didn't sleep enough.  I'm glad I don't have to do this too often.

Didn't get to see JoCo play, tickets were apparantly an issue.  I did go to see a Twins game, that kinda sucked in an expensive sort of way.  At least I can expense it all.

Being back in the office is kinda lame though.  Answering calls again.  (but maybe for not too much longer)

Twitter kinda makes LJ useless.

i'm sitting in my hotel room now, in eden prairie, MN.  Had some mexican food for lunch that was not too bad, but Minnesota it seems, is a boring and trivial place.  It's nice to be back in jeans again, after playing dress-up for the fargo people.

Everyone I have met here so far seems to have me deified.  Like I am some god of tech support to whom all answers are known.  I can't say I am not flattered.  Highlight of my day: Jorge wasn't able to get his laptop working properly to display two mirrored images, one on his screen and one on the projector, so he had to ask me for help in front of all the Fargonauts.

Going out with OD and Jorge, and some dude named Kelly tonight for drinks and food of some sort, and things are looking good for the Johnathon Coulton concert on Thursday, supposing I don't get shot or stabbed before then.  I am told to not mention that I am from Canada while I am in the downtown area (or Stinkburg as they call it here).

Anyway, I should be heading out any minute now, so I will take my leave.

it's finally friday...thank christ.

i have to pack for my trip tonight, figure out exactly what i want to bring with me (aside from clothes) to keep me sane for a week in minneapolis.  So far, my list consists of:

• Nintendo DS
• Playstation One
• Playing Cards
  
• Polaroid Camera
• Maybe a book or something

Other than that I have no idea.  Obviously games are included with the DS and PS, and I really have no reason to expect that I will have much time to use either.  I would prefer to bring a decent digital camera rather than the polaroid (film is expensive), but my current Digital Camera really sucks, and i'm not sure where it is.

If anyone can suggest a book, I could pick it up at chapters when I am downtown on Saturday.  Right now I am thinking of either a new James Bond book, or the latest Dexter book if it is in paperback rather than hardcover.

rob and i got through halo 3 on normal last night, completing my halo experience and ensuring that i never have to play halo again (until halo 4 *cough*).  Bungie was nice enough to thank me for funding their designs towards world domination, a nice touch.  I find myself with little desire to ever play the game again, and indeed, no desire whatsoever to try the multi-player.  I am thinking of trading in my old halo games (1 and 2 for the xbox) in favor of something more suitable to someone of my refined palate.

Redd thinks that my current troubles with sleeping might be due to the fact that I eat a ton of sugar every night before bed.  (Fun Dip to be exact)  I feel that this is HOGWASH!  There...I said it.  My troubles sleeping are due to PSYCHIC VAMPIRES DAMMIT!   /caps lock

As usually happens, when I discover something new, i am addicted to twitter.  I don't know how long it will last before i drop it like a venezuelan hooker, but I have little doubt it will leave me with a burning sensation "down there", or at the very least a mild itch and a fair amount of embarrassment.

i really don't want to be at work today, as my twitter will attest to.  I wouldn't say I am particularly displeased with my job, it's more of a mild hatred for the long periods of boredom, broken only by the frantic, panicked, i don't have time for this, busy bits.

in related news, i'm going to kill lots of flood tonight, maybe some covenant as well.  Rob is coming over to help with my genocidal mission (and hopefully to provide pizza to fuel my death march).

Last night i became old, by going to bed around 9:30 or something.  I'm still tired today.

This morning at the park, ash was told by a girl who was somewhere between the ages of 3 and 8 (i suck with ages) that "Ashley is a girl's name".  His response was to insist that he was in fact a girl.  He repeatedly made this arguement, but it didn't seem to help his case, still, I admire his moxie.

Then Nana came and picked him up for most of the day, so I got to clean and hang out with Redd.  Which was nice.  Now we are going to play scrabble and drink slushies.  I am contemplating eating 8 packs of fun dip as well, but I think I may save them for tomorrow.  I also played quite a bit of Halo 3 today, but not nearly enough Pokémon.

Tomorrow should be a fun night of D&D with Rob, assuming nothing comes up that I don't know about.  I was going to say tomorrow will be a fun night of role-playing with Rob, but there are certain ways in which that could be taken out of context.

It has been what...40 years since my last post? Something like that. Don't expect this to last, but I decided I would dust of the ol' LJ and post myself on the intertubes again. In my absence I have started no less than 6,000,000 blogs, all of which failed. So instead I am just going to journal it up hardcore for a while, till I tire of it.

So...what's up with me? Well, today I am just playing Halo 3 while Ash naps, then we are off to OSG to see Redd when she gets off work. When I get tired of massacring the flood, I am spending my time learning to play the ukulele. Currently I am working on "Tom Cruise Crazy" by Johnathon Coulton. Mostly this is influenced by Sweetafton23's version which is up on youtube and ukulele hunt. I <3 sweetafton23, in a creepy, she's still in high school sorta way.

Tonight is the UFC Pay Per View, which I am contemplating purchasing. Maybe if I can convince some people to join me, or maybe if I just cave and get it anyway.

so quite a few things have happened since last i posted...lets break it down...HAMMER STYLE!!!

christmas was good...got a few nice things and family time was bearable. becke's birthday party/Octagonanza was great, had a good time and got to add two new people to the dead to me wall. also, i got very drunk...which was swell. everyone but me got norwalk, which is braggable. i started a new webcomic on the 29th. it is a daily webcomic and you can find it somewhere around here. then new years i did practically nothing because ash was/is sick. i am learning to knit, which is also braggable. i am down to 152 pounds from 190 in 9 months, again braggable. my life is in such a good place right now, with the possible exception of having a painful sinus infection. went to the doctor last wednesday and now i am on amoxicillin to get rid of the infection. only been using it for 3 days with a noticable improvement. started ddo again last night, and enjoyed it quite a bit. ash is getting to the age where he sleeps a little longer (right now that is not the case, but i think that is because he is sick. this sunday i am starting role-playing again with rob and d-rok, i am so excited.

so in paul land all is well.

christmas is more than just that time to remember why you don't speak to your relatives the rest of the year. it's also a time for excessive drinking.

so i am in nova scotia right now, just got back from playing pool with jeff and i plan on seeing jamie tomorrow.
i miss ottawa terribly...i don't like change.
ash is doing well, he is sleeping right now, dad put him to sleep while i was out.

i love you bunny...i miss you...two more days.
